executive coaching

You’ve built something great. And you’re not done.

There’s more ahead. More decisions to make. More opportunities to pursue. More people to develop. More things you need to get right.

Coaching gives you a trusted outside perspective to help you think clearly, make better decisions, and handle the challenges that come with leading a growing company.

Your company is growing.

More people are making decisions. Your leaders need to own more. The important conversations are more frequent and essential to have now. And some of the things that were easy to see when the company was simpler are now harder to see from where you sit now.

You still have ideas you want to implement, things that need to be better, and things you know must improve.

You can see what this company could become. And you want to go build it.

James Mayhew and executive in a coaching conversation

You want your leaders to lead.

You bring the real stuff…

The hard decision you’re wrestling with.

The leader you know is capable of more.

The opportunity you’re not sure you should pursue.

The idea you can’t stop thinking about

The “impossible problem” that keeps showing up.

The thing everyone else seems comfortable with that you’re not.

The big move you’ve talked about long enough.

I’ll bring perspective. Ask questions. Offer ideas.
Point out what I notice.
Tell you when I see it differently.

Sometimes we’ll slow something down.
Sometimes we’ll decide it’s time to pick up the pace.

But I’m not there to tell you how to run your company.
That’s your job…

And that’s exactly how it should be.

Coaching built around what you need.

Sometimes there’s something specific you need to work through.
A decision.
A transition.
A difficult conversation.
An area of your leadership that needs attention.

Other times, you want an ongoing coaching relationship with someone who knows you, knows the business, and can stay in the conversation as things change.

Focused Coaching is a shorter-term engagement with a defined beginning and end, built around something specific you want to work through or improve.

Longer-term coaching gives us more time to stay in the conversation as the business, the decisions, and your leadership continue to evolve.

The structure depends on what you’re working on and the support that will be most useful.

Here’s what I believe.

I believe great leaders can get better.

I believe growth should create new opportunities, not just more work.

I believe results matter.
And how you go about achieving them matters, too.

I believe integrity and dignity belong in every room.

I believe you can build an exceptional company without compromising your values to build it.

And I believe coaching should make you even more capable, not dependent on a coach.

You may already know enough to want to talk.
If you do, let’s talk.

If you want to understand more about how I coach, what working with me is like, and who I tend to work best with, go a little deeper first.

Let’s have a conversation.

We’ll spend about an hour talking about your company, what you’re building, what’s getting your attention, and what you want to make better.

No pitch disguised as a conversation.
No obligation to turn it into anything.

Just a real conversation.
If there’s something worth pursuing together, we’ll both know.
