How I think about coaching.
The goal isn’t to make you dependent on a coach…
It’s to make you better at leading without one.
You know your company better than I ever will.
You know its history. You know your people.
You know what you’ve tried, what you’ve learned, and what you’re trying to build.
My job isn’t to replace any of that.
I’m there to bring another perspective.
To ask questions. Offer ideas. Notice things. Tell you what I really think.
Sometimes we’ll tear an idea apart and put it back together.
Sometimes I’ll tell you I think you’re right.
Sometimes I won’t.
Sometimes you’ll leave with a completely different perspective.
Other times you’ll leave more confident in what you already knew.
But a good conversation should always lead somewhere…
A decision.
An action.
A conversation that needs to happen.
A commitment you’ve made to yourself or someone else.
Results matter to me.
And I’ll push you here.
Because insight without action eventually becomes just another good conversation.
And that’s simply not enough.
